Writing box in lacquer imitating an ink stone. Fun and very rare item. The box in the shape of a gourd with its stem, its leaves and its flower, it is in green, brown and golden brown lacquered wood. Superb museum quality carved Chinese wood brise fan with deeply worked guard sticks and finely done inner sticks carved equally to both sides of lovely scenes. Larger than most brise fans, it also still has its original hand carved presentation box fitted in silk. Made in Canton, China for the export market, the fan and box dates circa 1870-1880. Condition is wonderful to both and a must have for the collector. Fan length 9.5" x fully opened 16.5" with case being 12.5" long x 2.5" x 2.5"

Antique Chinese jade carving of a recumbent horse. Seated on it's haunches, it's hooves curved underneath it's body, the horse looks back over it's shoulder. Details of face, main and tail accent the pleasing arch of the horse's neck. Carved of yellow and brown mottled jade.

Fine & Rare Large Chinese Yuan Dynasty Burnished Black Pottery Horse

This impressive and attractive pottery model of a horse was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). Such figures from the Yuan Dynasty are very distinctive and are particularly rare and desirable. The surface of these figures is typically fired to grey, or almost black, and sometimes, as in this case, burnished to a smooth finish.

This is an authentic example from the Qijia culture, dating to 2100-1600 BCE, of a well-known type of ritual axe, known as a "Yue." It measures 4" in length and 3-3/8" at its widest point (10cm X 8.5cm). The surface has a beautiful, smooth polish; the "blade" has a beveled edge and has been sharpened, although it shows no signs of actual use...

Chinese gourd shaped vase done in Peking glass with silver wire and fittings covering the vase. The silver fittings contain auspicious motifs such as the character longevity and goldfish.
