Large Chinese Ming Dynasty Enamelled Porcelain Bowl
This attractive porcelain bowl was made during the Wanli Reign (1573 - 1620) of the Ming Dynasty. This type of porcelain is referred to as "Swatow" or "Zhangzhou" ware and was often exported to the South East Asian market. The outer wall has been decorated with a scrolling floral pattern in red and green enamels, the inner centre more simply decorated with a floral motif and two red rings... This attractively-shaped stoneware jar, or bottle, was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) at one of the kilns in the north of China specialising in Cizhou wares. It is "heavily-potted" and has four loop handles around the shoulder. The body is coated in a white slip with the upper body decorated in underglaze iron-brown pigment on top of which is a transparent glaze. The lower body is coated in a brown glaze... This fine pottery figure of a kneeling musician in the act of playing a hand-held drum was made during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220). It is quite "heavily-potted" and made from a fairly high-fired pottery that has been cold-painted in a thick white pigment on top of which are traces of orange and black pigments used for highlighting the details of the clothing and facial features. It was well preserved despite the bottom cover was lost and was replaced by an old plank of wood. The surface was in kind of dry-feel and in pale tint. $350.00 Small hard porcelain dish, enamelled decoration, with a bouquet of flowers and flowering branches in relief in the colors of the "famille rose". Chinese work from the end of the 18th century, probably made for export via the "compagnie de indies". Relief decorations are rare.
Good condition, wear from use visible on photos. No restaure.

Conservatoire Sakura
sold Hard stone cup, probably Jadeite. The more or less pale nuanced ocher colored stone is stained with a pretty green and veined with rust. The cut is very thin which required good control. Uneven grinding and a soft sheen suggest that this cut is ancient, difficult to date with certainty. Chinese work from the 19th century or before.

Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Dish (Ex. Grahame Clarke Collection)
This beautifully lobed dish was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) and has the simple stylishness typical of Song Qingbai porcelains. There are some glaze crackles which occurred during the firing, one of which, in the centre, penetrates through to the foot (please note that this not damage). This attractive porcelain jar, or vase, was made in the Transitional period, c. 1620 - 1660, most likely during either the Tianqi reign (1621 - 1627) or the Chongzhen reign (1628 - 1643) of the Ming Dynasty. It is fairly "heavily-potted" and made in three sections that have been luted together prior to glazing. The bold underglaze blue pattern features blossoming plants on opposite sides of the body... The inner surface is attractively decorated with a scrolling floral pattern.
