Chinese ceramic Buddha, circa 1900-1930 (Qing – Early Republic). The iconography is quite unusual there is a seated Buddha image on the chest, standing Buddha image on the back, and another image of the Buddha in Parinirvana reclining pose. Overall a very intriguing piece, possibly meant for export to another Asian nation. Excellent original condition- no cracks, chips or frits. H: 15cm/6in and W: 9cm/3.5in.

A beautifully carved and gilt boxwood figure of Guan Yin / Guanyin. The goddess is holding the holy Buddhist scripture and has placed her hand between the open pages. China, Republic period, c 1920. The surface of the carving is covered with a thin layer of red that mixes with the gilt. The figure can be fixed to an oval wooden stand. Height (the stand not included) "4 ¾ / 12.3 cm. 18th century Chinese bronze Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) Bodhisattva figurine seated in a position of royal ease with a contemplative expression. The robe falls in elegant folds and is inlaid in silver wire with a cloud pattern. A "Shisou" two-character mark is inlaid in silver wire on the back. Measures 5" high, 4" long, 3" wide. Chinese scholar's desk root wood (possibly cypress) sculpture depicting Sanxing (Three Star Gods) representing longevity, happiness, and wealth. The god of wealth holds a small child representing wishes for future good fortune through healthy offspring. Measures nearly 11" high by 12" long. Late Qing dynasty to early Republic period. Very good overall condition. There is old bug damage to the back of two heads which appears at one time to have been filled (see enlargements 9 and 10)...

A suburb Chinese Boxwood carving of a warrior riding a horse. This wonderful carving is masterfully carved and has a rich patina. The warrior's face is wonderfully expressive. He holds his weapon out to the side creating a diagonal to the sculpture that makes it sharply dynamic. Height: 11.5 inches, 29 cm.

A magnificent bronze Guanyin was preserved in a decent look.
By a very fine condition, the bronze deity was reserved with the original patina of the painted gold leaf and the enduring old and darken bronze sheen.
Sitting on the legendary holy beast- Hong, the Guanyin was in a easy-posture with one leg resting on the back of the animal and with another leg stepping on the lotus pedestal.
She was heavily cast by fine quality of bronze and was carved by brilliant crafts...

From our Early Chinese Collection, a very fine Ming bronze of Guanyin, 16th-17th century, crisply cast with a wonderfully serene countenance, a tiered and pierced diadem (crown), urna on the forehead signifying divine sight, body jewelry, and seated with right hand in verada mudra upon a double lotus base. This piece has developed a nice deep brown / dark gray patina with several areas of greenish verdigris suggesting high copper content to the bronze...
