Price on Request Chinese hand scroll portraying a hunting scene attributed to, Jin Tingbiao (~1767). Four hunters with four horses are gathered in this scene either preparing a hunting party or finishing one. Views of hunting, known as shoulie wenwutu were first seen from the Yuan dynasty and succeeding dynasties continued to paint various renditions. Comes in a beautifully carved box. SOLD A Chinese hanging scroll portraying a group of lotuses set in a marsh-like environment with a butterfly flying over the flowers. The work contains a seal and signature of the noted artist, Qi Baishi (1864-1957). Qi Baishi became famous through his independent studies in Chinese painting and his energetic brush strokes and styles evolved Chinese art in the 20th century. $975.00 Wonderful Chinese hardwood burl brush pot, nice striations and knots, beautiful reddish brown color, Republic Period.
Size: 5 1/4" high x 4 1/2" wide.
Lavishly inlaid with engraved mother of pearl. Dimensions: 30,5 x 18 x 11 cm.
Exceptional good condition with almost all the inlay still intact, only some minor pieces missing. The wood has some age cracks and one of the long sides is a bit crooked. The brass corner pieces are all original.

$3,000.00 The base is made up of several small wooden parts finely cut with flowers, scrolls and Greek motifs. The majority of the wood is dark brown, almost black, small inserted panels are made of boxwood, the barriers are made of bone. These barriers were tinted green, a color today almost completely erased by light and time, however more pronounced shades of green remain in the most sheltered places. This barrier is carved with plum blossoms, bamboo stems and pine needles...
The marble painted with scenes of Chinese saints in a garden. Size: 34 x 34 cm. Very good condition with expected age wear.

In the succeeding centuries, different artists produced these landscapes echoing poems by Li Bai or Guqin tunes. The landscape painting was done by an artist named, Tzuyue. Chinese ink on paper painting of fish and shrimp by Qi Liangmo (b. 1938). Titled and signed at the upper left Qi Liangmo, the 7th son of Qi Baishi, in black ink and with two red seals reading “Qi Liangmo” and “Baishi’s 7th son.” 20th century. 27” x 13 1/2.” Unframed. Very good, clean condition with some minor discoloration of the background evident. There is a vertical center fold and some wrinkling of the fine paper. From a Phoenix, Arizona collection...

$2,500.00 A small porcelain iron red overglaze water coup decorated with dragons set among scrolling clouds. The iron red style was developed in the Ming dynasty and in the Qing various styles were expanded. Additionally, with the continuity of the literati tradition, various objects were being produced and one was the water coup which is essential in producing ink for calligraphy. The water coup contains an inscription reading Da qing xiangfeng nian xin. (1851-1861).
