SOLD Gorgeous scenic painting by Chinese artist Tsui Chian Tsai of a small town amidst a beautiful mountainous landscape, with a murky, grey sky and delicate white speckles of paint to represent the falling snow. Two large boats are returning to shore, covered in snow from their long trip. Very detailed work with a lot of realism, the artist truly captured the feeling of an extremely cold climate. Dated 1990, stamped and signed.

Large and heavy Chinese late Qing dynasty scholar's hardwood box (guanpixiang) suitable for holding documents, seals, ink sticks, and other desktop items. This form of furniture was originally constructed as a jewelry box for ladies, but was also used later as a scholar's box. A removable panel on the front lifts to reveal two narrow document trays at the top, five drawers in the mid-section, and one narrow document tray at the bottom...

Price on Request Antique Chinese scroll painting of two beautiful birds with brightly colored feathers and long, striped tails, with resemblance to a cockatiel. One runs along the ground, gazing at nearby dandelions, its long tail feather arching gracefully above its body, and one sits perched amidst foliage with its neck feathers blowing in the wind like golden hair. A tall branch extends upwards into the painting, sprouting white peonies and pink chrysanthemums...
The marble painted with scenes of Chinese saints in a garden. Size: 34 x 34 cm. Very good condition with expected age wear.
A very rare wood panel, covered with a white ground and decorated with a painting of a bodhisattva. This panel was found in a cave temple in the Dunhuang mountains in the Gansu Province. We acquired a group of six panels from a Dutch collector who bought the panels in China in the 1980's. Dimensions: 46x20 cm.
Tang Dynasty (618-906).Wooden objects from this period are quite rare.

Price on Request Antique Chinese framed scroll depicting the bodhisattva of compassion, Quan Yin. She is dressed in long, flowing robes with metal rings, and a crown of the Amitābha Buddha. She holds in her left hand a small jar filled with pure water, and in her right the branch of a willow tree. She stands barefoot on the head of a dragon, with a white parrot carrying long beads in its mouth flying overhead. Her two young acolytes, a girl named Longnü and a boy named Shancai, stand at her sides...
A very rare and large rootwood scholar's rock. China, 19th century. H. 37,5 cm (excluding stand. Condition: Beautiful wear and patina, there is a crack in the upper hanging branch (see pictures) but it has not been broken or restored. This piece comes with a beautiful antique hongmu (redwood) table. Provenance: Dutch private collection.
