Antique Ming dynasty (1368 - 1644) Chinese gilt bronze scholar scroll weight in the form of a chimera. The mythical water dragon-like creature semi-coils it's body. Made of cast bronze with original gilt finish. Original finish consistent with age.
Scholar-officials were the elite class of imperial China. They were highly educated, especially in literature and the arts.

Antique Chinese belt hook of an unusual anthropomorphic figure with the head and wings of an owl but with human-like arms and legs. The opposite "hook" portion is another animal head. Made of bronze and mixed metal with inlaid swirling motifs and inset with carnelian eyes.

Antique Chinese bronze censer with oval form body, high neck and rounded rectangular mouth. Standing on four feet with heads of mythical creatures. A band with a swirling motif in low relief encircles the middle of the censer. The neck of the censer is also decorated with a wave motif in a band of low relief. The lid is pierced for incense smoke and topped with a sitting Qilin.
