A Chinese bronze two-handled censer in the manner of Hu Wenming, Ming dynasty, 16th/17th century. 15 cms wide. Provenance: Hugh Gordon Lowder (1888-1978) who worked at Chinese Maritime Customs, Shanghai, 1908-1914 and 1918-1940.

17th Century Chinese Bronze Censer

It is 7.83 inches (19.9 cm) tall by 6.85 inches (17.4 cm) wide. It is 1837Gram.

A fine and heavily cast Chinese bronze censer and stand cast as a finger citrus, the stand with trailing leaves. The burner with a beautiful honey brown patina suffused with gilt flecks. Late Ming/early Qing dynasty, 17th century. Length 20 cms. Weight 1580g.

Antique Chinese bronze Ding on three feet. Formed with sloping lines and dramatic spikes, Ming Period jade finial in the form of a seated dog. The bronze has a large Xuande mark on the bottom.

Spurious mark made in the 18th Century

Beautiful set of four (4) bronze Chinese Buddhist temple pole tops mounted on stands, with large auspicious symbols such as a flute, sword, and lotus pod, billowing ribbons, dragon and tao tie motifs. Two are engraved at the base. 19th century. Size: 30" height, 13" width

Ming Dynasty Chinese Bronze Quanyin composed of two sections, a Lotus petal base with a detailed rendered religious figure on top. Condition is generally excellent with small repairs to one finger. The base is not original to the figure but is of same period.

Death mask, made from a thin bronze sheet subtly formed as a man's broad face, chased with eyes, a nose, mouth and rounded cheeks, as well as a mustache. Tiny attachment hole on each side of the top (one missing). Fine slightly encrusted green, blue and red patina. China, Liao Dynasty (907-1125). Height: 18,5 cm. The mask is nicely mounted on a custom stand. A few small areas missing, tiny hole on the nose, otherwise good condition...

Antique Chinese large cast iron temple bell with scalloped bottom edge. Four square reserves with raised writing, roundels and rolling wave or mist design in band around the bottom of the bell. One of the square reserves reads, 乾隆四十七年　吉日造 "Made on an auspicious day in the 47th year of Qianlong"

Age: Qing Dynasty circa 1782

Antique Chinese gilt bronze Medicine Buddha, seated on lotus throne base. With hands held together upright on his lap. Eyes downcast in meditation. Base closed with cover embossed with the visvavajra or double vajra, symbolic of the thunderbolt and diamond. Wear consistent with age.

Antique Chinese tassels from the 18th centur, Sino-TIbetan. The tassels are inlaid gilt and lacquered iron with red horse hair, probably used as ornaments on a horse for the saddle. The decoration has fret key bands and an endless knot pattern. The tassles are displayed in a plastic case. The top of the tassle measures 4" long(10.2 cm).

The base cast with a sixteen-character inscription incorporating an apocryphal Xuande date, reading Da Ming Xuande wunian Jiandu Gongbu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao (Made by Wu Bangzuo, supervisor of the Ministry of Works, in the 5th year of Xuande of the Great Ming). 16,5 cm diameter.2048 gram weight. Between each buddha is an inscription of chinese characters. The unusual plaque has been forged in Iron. Early to Mid Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1912) It measures 25.25" wide by 26.25" tall by 1.5" deep.
