Fine Chinese Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Covered Box
This attractively-painted pottery box, complete with its cover, was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). It is made from a relatively highly-fired grey pottery (box & cover have a ring when tapped) that has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments, very good traces of which still remain. The scrolling design seems to be a mixture of cloud and, possibly, zoomorphic patterns... Fine Tall Chinese Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Granary Jar

Oldbailey Antiques
$1,595.00 You are considering an authentic set of three arc-shaped pendants from the Neolithic or Shang period, circa 2000-1500 BCE. Similar published examples can be found in Rawson, Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Ching at pages 158-159 (the latter illustration showing a similar item from the collection of the British Museum). As with the other examples, these three pieces join together to form a ring...
Abhaya Asian Antiques
$200.00
Unusual pottery bowl with hand molded snake handle. I cannot find any pieces similar in style to this although the reddish clay and heavy potting are reminiscent of Hongshan pottery. This came out of China and has a good petrichor and water absorption on the base, very old- at least 2000 to 3000 years old but probably older. W: 14cm/5.5in and H: 12cm/4.7in.
Large Chinese Neolithic Machang Painted Pottery Jar (c. 2300 - 2000 BC)
This large pottery jar was made over 4,000 years ago during the Machang Phase (c. 2300 - 2000 BC) of the Majiayao culture, also known as the Gansu-Yangshao culture, from present day Gansu or Qinghai province. It is quite "heavily-potted" and made from a yellowish-brown pottery that has been relatively highly-fired. It is a well-made jar of good proportions. At the waist of its wide body are two sturdy loop handles... Fine Chinese Neolithic Siwa Culture Burnished Black Pottery Jar (c. 1350 BC)
This fine and rare pottery vessel was made over 3,000 years ago by peoples of the Siwa Culture (c.1350 BC) from present day Gansu or Qinghai province. It is quite "heavily-potted" with high handles, a saddle-shaped mouth and a wide body. Pottery jars from the Siwa culture are rarer than those of the preceding Qijia and Majiayao cultures and most known examples are made from an orange or buff coloured pottery... $1,495.00 This is a genuine, archaic Chinese nephrite axe or Gui scepter. The surface has the expected smooth, "waxy" feel to it. The end is sharpened (which leads me to think it was made as a prestige axe as opposed to a scepter, although the literature seems to view pieces such as this one as either/both an axe and a Gui scepter; e.g...
Conservatoire Sakura
$3,200.00 Two characters with bird beaks serving as incense holders. They are in sandstone covered with lead glassures of three colors (sancai), yellow, green and manganese, these models also have a part enamelled in white. Models with animal masks are much rarer than those with human faces and probably represent the animals of the zodiac. Good condition, almost not worn, a broken and glued head visible on photos. The glassure is finely cracked. Height: 325mm. Chinese work probably 17°, but maybe before.
Pair of Rare Chinese Sui / Early Tang Dynasty Pottery Ladies
These fine and very rare pottery ladies were made during either the Sui Dynasty (AD 581 - 518) or the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). Traces of the original "cold painted" surface pigment remain. Height 25.5 cm. Fine condition with... |
