The wonderfully shaped grip is exquisitely hand crafted as a 3-dimensional Lion's head. The dominant dense Pamor pattern of the blade resembles the irregular annual rings of a tree trunk. A mask carved from a mushroom, Eastern part of Nepal, Raj people. This type of masks hang in the houses to ward of evil and danger. They are called "fog-eaters" as they are credited with the power to keep fog away from the mountains; fog being a danger when one had to go out and travel. The use of this mask fits in a shamanistic type of belief that is still quite strong among the Raj. Dim.: WxDxH 28x14x22cm. In good condition with a smokey patina.

There is red satin on the larger bag is new and can be removed the smaller bag has a stain but may wash out (never tried so no guarantees).
