Antique Chinese ruyi scepter carved of boxwood in a naturalistic representation of a lingzhi mushroom. Long and elegantly curved with smaller lingzhi sprouting from it's stem. Beautifully carved with great attention to detail and form. Ruyi scepters were used in Chinese Buddhist ceremonies and as symbols of good fortune, luxury and power.

Antique silver and enamel finger nail guard, worn by wealthy ladies to protect their long finger nails and show that they did not need to work with their hands, made all of pierced repouse silver and enamel and decorated with flowers and a raised frog, edge has light blue enamel over a running key fret motif, 19th century. Antique Chinese low rectangular table inset with picture marble, made of hardwood, ornately carved all over with scrolling flowers and vines, two longest sides have two drawers each, 19th century. Size: 12" high x 34 1/2" wide x 22 1/4" deep.

Antique Chinese porcelain water coupe in the form of a pine branch. Whimsically sculpted with a gibbon hanging from it's handle. Glazed a lovely mauve color on the outside and a white glaze inside. Underside has Wang Bing Rong mark in a raised cartouche. Wang Bing Rong (1840-1900) specialized in carved decoration on porcelain and was active during the Tongzhi to Gunagxu Period.

Antique Chinese miniature scroll table made of mixed hardwood. Carved apron with pierced scrolling motif and chimera heads. The top is made with three solid sections of burl hardwood. Beautifully carved and finished.

Antique Chinese monochrome porcelain vase with dripping Flambé (Jingdezhen Jun) glaze. Because the glaze effect is made by the combining of various colors and thus the fusing of different minerals, it is also called Transmutation glaze. Amazing antique Chinese porcelain dish. Beautifully formed, glazed with a rich monochrome turquoise color. Standing on four small unglazed feet. Intricately decorated with tiny drum-like rivets around the outer edge and on the inside with raised stylized 5-bat motif around a central prosperity symbol. The underside has an incised 6 character Qianlong zhuanzhu mark (1735-1796) or later.

Antique Chinese table screen made of serpentine from the Nangyang region. In two separate pieces: the picture slab of prized serpentine is framed in Huanghuali which sits into a carved frame. Valued for it's undulating natural snake-like layers, this serpentine screen once sat on a scholar's table. There, it could be admired and pondered for it's beauty.

Ming Period

Chinese antique monochrome porcelain incensor with round squat body on three legs. The red oxblood glaze transitions to white around the short neck and flares slightly. Thick drips on the underside of the body. The copper content of the glaze is evident in green colored drippings on the inside of the lip.

Antique Chinese pair of carved wood display cabinets. Each cabinet has three large areas for display open from the front and sides and framed in elegantly carved scrolling leaf boarders. The lower sections have a pair of side-by-side drawers over a compartment opened by a pair of doors. The cabinets are lacquered their original deep reddish color and metal hardware includes round lock plates with matching hinges.
