Rare silver mounted boar's tusk opium pipe from the Himalayas in the Tibetan area. The bowl is in the form of a dragon's head with dark blue glass eyes and has a cover fashioned as the dragon's nose with a chain attached. Marked 925. This is real treasure for the collector and is in excellent working condition. Following the outer curve it measures 7.5 inches. Dates circa 1900.

This rare stoneware jar was made during the Liao Dynasty (AD 907 - 1125). It is particularly "heavily-potted" and coated with a thick and uneven olive-green glaze, both inside and out. In places the glaze has not vitrified properly leaving a matt appearance. The mouth has sagged a little to one side during firing. An exact miniature version of a Tanegashima matchlock rifle in the form of a Netsuke with a little gilt metal loop as himotoshi. The match-lock rifle was introduced by the Portuguese in 1543 and is rarely seen in Netsuke art. The rifle is iron with brass and black lacquer and gilding.
