Japanese antique 15 ken (plates) jingasa hat for a ashigaru foot soldier. Made of iron with large rivets and edged with oxidized silver. Comes with a custom metal stand. The samurai class in feudal Japan, as well as their retainers and footsoldiers (ashigaru), used several types of jingasa made from iron, copper, wood, paper, bamboo, or leather.

Chinese brown glazed pottery granary jar, with cylindrical shape, decorated with bands of incised lines, and supported by three legs in the shape of bears. Lead glaze with copper is the main colorant used in Han period to produce brown glaze. Brownware became popular during the Eastern Han period.

Hanging scroll of mandala with Guanyin sitting on a rock, surrounded by two worshiping deities in front of him and by a guardian figure in the upper left corner. Beneath him the gods of thunder and wind and rain in the clouds. Below these, Chinese figures in a mountainous landscape, occupied by different activities. On top of the painting a printed text. Unfortunately we were not able to identify the mandala and thus the meaning. Ink and color on Chinese paper. 19th century, China.

Gandhara Kingdom stucco head of Buddha mounted, 3/4th Century, condition: good, left ear damaged and a few inconsequential nicks, common considering the age of this fine sculpture, size" H. 12cm x W. 8cm x D. 11cm. The idealized style is reminiscent of Greek Hellenistic sculpture which strongly influenced the Buddhist imagery of Central Asia and in particular of Gandharan artists.

A complete calcified "chicken bone" jade necklace from the Longshan Period. Jade that has been buried for millenniums sometime calcifies to a white color losing all of it's original color. Age: 2800-1900 BC. Size. Length(closed) 29.5cm. Condition: Age calcification.

Very interesting Indian Miniature Painting of a popular subject, Baz Bahadur and Rupmati, the last king of Malwa and his HIndu courtesan (r.1555-61) before its absorption into the Moghul empire,here the lovers are hunting at night, depicted as a green-gowned woman holding lantern spotlighting group of deer with the king as an archer having just used his bow standing behind her. In background a boat on a river and also a a tiger is hunting deer, some losses to pigment overall wear, Moghul Style...

Simple and refine elegance is what best describes this zisha yixing teapot of the 19th century, pure Chinese with little or no adornment, except a little calligraphy. A very beautiful Tang Dynasty jar with a pale greenish and slightly bluish glaze effects. This very ancient Tang artifact (681-906 A.D.). is in excellent condition with no hairlines or noticeable damage. Lid and stand included, both which are antiques in their own right. Authenticity is guaranteed. It measures 31.75 cm high or 12.5" high.

Japanese Satsuma Phoenix Vase by Kinkozan V, an important and renowned Satsuma artist. It features stylized figures and flowers in under glaze red, yellow, green and blue on a rich black ground. This kind of design was very influential on Art Deco. 9 inches, 23 cm.

Nepalese bronze pedestaled bowls from 18th-19th century. One bowl has a lotus blossom on the bottom of the bowl. The second bowl is decorated with a band of blooming flowers along the base. Deaccessioned from the Handley Private Collection. Measures 4" 5/8" tall, 4.25" at widest.
