Antique Thai gilt cast bronze figure of a recumbent temple deer. These sika deer are closely associated with the Buddha because of his "Teaching in the Deer Park" in Sarnath. From our Southeast Asia Collection, a very good 18th century gilded bronze Thai buddha, seated in bhumisparsa mudra, gilded lacquer over bronze with interesting glass inserts to the base, and all the indicia of legitimate age and genuineness.

Size and Condition: 13 inches tall, 8 1/2 inches wide. There is obvious age-related wear to the gilding and some lacquer has flaked off in a few random places, but in small amounts...

A Tibetan bronze ceremonial bell, with a gilt vajra shaped handled, finely cast with the image of a bodhisattva's head, the top of the bell with low-relief Sanskrit characters on lotus petals, small vajra pattern along the fluted edges of the bell, and an inner lotus petal design with signature inside the bell where the clapper hangs.
