Korean Koryo Dynasty Celadon Stoneware Bowl with Inlaid Slip Decoration

This small stoneware bowl was made during the Koryo Dynasty (AD 918 - 1392). It is glazed all over in a thick and finely-crackled translucent celadon glaze. The inner surface is decorated with a central flower blossom surrounded by rings and cloud patterns inlaid in white slip (this is not so easy to photograph due to the highly reflective glaze)...

Korean Koryo Dynasty 13th/14th Century Glazed Stoneware Bottle / Jar

This attractively-shaped stoneware bottle was made during the 13th / 14th century. It has a wide round body, a short narrow neck and a cup-shaped mouth. The surface is coated in a finely-crackled olive-green glaze, the colour varying in places according to its thickness. In places where the glaze is particularly thin, it has degraded a little over time and flaked from the surface.

Korean kitchen cabinet in traditional style, made of (Keyaki hardwood) elm wood, sliding panels are slatted and backed with rice paper. Small drawers on top and middle (including 2 hidden drawers!). Open storage area behind the traditionally slatted sliding doors. Charming piece with great storage options. 20th Century, very well built. Dimensions: 65" high x 37 3/4" wide x 17 1/4" deep.

Beautiful simple Korean bandaji (blanket storage chest). Made of solid kayak (Elm) wood with dramatic natural wood grain. Gorgeous original iron hardware with large lock and hinges with cut out motifs. Hinged in the front for storage access. Early 20th century. Size: 28 1/2" high x 32" wide x 19 1/4" deep.

A refined Korean Buncheong celadon vase. Buncheong refers to the technique of incising a repeating pattern on the clay surface and white clay is filled in creating a strong contrast of greys and celadon colors with the white lines. The vase is decorated with cranes, an auspicious motif in East Asian culture. Age: Koryo Dynasty 13th century Size: Diameter 6" Height 10.5"

Korean Joseon dynasty (1392-1910) painted portrait of a seated scholar official executed in ink and color on paper. At the center of the robe is a rank badge holding a crane, indicating the gentleman is a civil official. The calligraphy states the bearded official is 41 years old. Buncheong ware in a flattened ovoid form with a raised foot finished with a wide flared rim. It is decorated with a creamy colored slip and the faces are painted with a leafy plant in brown slip, all beneath a clear glaze with a faint celadon tint where pooled in drips along the shoulder, the creamy slip and the glaze are also applied within the recessed base...

A Korean soapstone box that has a square section carved out for the ink pad plus space to store soapstone seals. The box is cut out of one block of red soapstone measuring about 4 3/4"w x 3 5/8"d x 3"h. The red block is marbled with white and gray grains and spots.
