$120.00 A beautifully carved and gilt boxwood figure of Guan Yin / Guanyin. The goddess is holding the holy Buddhist scripture and has placed her hand between the open pages. China, Republic period, c 1920. The surface of the carving is covered with a thin layer of red that mixes with the gilt. The figure can be fixed to an oval wooden stand. Height (the stand not included) "4 ¾ / 12.3 cm. Condition: fine.
From our Shipwreck Porcelain Collection, a good teacup and saucer ex-Sotheby's, from the Ca Mau Cargo, Yongzheng Period (1723-1735), executed in the "Tu Hai" pattern in underglaze blue.
This particular teacup and saucer is a very good example that somehow managed to survive over two centuries under the sea, essentially unscathed...

A bronze water basin was inscribed with poems and carved with beautiful scenery on the surface. The inscriber was Pu Ton, A sibling of the last emperor of Qing Dynasty Pu Yi. Pu Ton was also a famous scholar of late Qing to early Republic periods. This bronze piece was cast in thin wall but was kept in very good condition with darken patina on the surface. SOLD ! Thanks to Malaysia ! The censer is cast with twin upright handles and the body is decorated with three taotie panels divided by flanges. It is raised on three tall supports each decorated with a stylised mask and a flange. Late Ming Dynasty, 16th - 17th century. H : 25,9 cm. There is an old inventory Number to the base of the body. By the unique outlook which the Chinese usually depicted to the divines, the Lohan takes the casual posture of leaning to one side when holding in hand with a scroll. By contemplating facial expression, the sage wears only one shoe on the foot when letting loose of another to the stool side...

Being penetrated as wall of holes for light going through, the scholar item was most favoured by literati for the natural mood. It was reserved in very good condition by enduring old patina. A black-glazed water pot was in strong Zen spirit. By an elegant elm bowl’s shape, the pot was applied on the surface with black slip when bluish white splashes were decorated intriguingly on top across the mouth rim. Unglazed at the bottom, the foot ring was flat and was revealed with the body clay which was in dark brown tint. Date: Tang Dynasty(AD618-907), Width: 21.5cm. A CUSTOM-MADE SILK BOX IS INCLUDED. |
