One of a kind. Wonderful and important Chinese Hawksbill Tortoise Tenmoku Chawan from the Jizhou kiln of Southern Sung. It has a wonderful crazing and still vivid colours. The tea bowl was part of the collection of Dr. Walther von Krenner, one of the best connaisseurs of Asian Art in the world and writer of several books on Chinese and Japanese ceramics.

It comes with a tailor made Japanese wooden box from a former owner...

Ancient mask of the traditional esoteric "Nuo" theater, representing the character of General Guanyu, wearing his helmet. An amazing matching pair of a male and a female glazed pottery attendants from the Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD.

This type & size is very rare and were made as tomb figures for wealthy and prominent people during the Ming Dynaasty.

The male attendant with greyish-black robe over a cobolt blue and torquoise glazed dress and a round red hat and with black rim. Many nice details. He is standing a tray and a mug or cup in his hands...

Statue of Duowen Tian Wang, the Heavenly King of the North, elaborately dressed, wearing a diadem, holding the end of a ribbon with his left hand and a Buddhist scepter resting on a lotus in his right hand. The statue is standing on an square pedestal. The piece was originally lacquered, painted and gilt. Part of the lacquering is flaked, revealing the bronze oxydation. The statue was cast in China during the early Qing Dynasty, in the 18th century. Height: 37 cm. Very good condition.

Two characters with bird beaks serving as incense holders. They are in sandstone covered with lead glassures of three colors (sancai), yellow, green and manganese, these models also have a part enamelled in white. Models with animal masks are much rarer than those with human faces and probably represent the animals of the zodiac. Good condition, almost not worn, a broken and glued head visible on photos. The glassure is finely cracked. Height: 325mm. Chinese work probably 17°, but maybe before.

An absolutely stunning large Chinese carving of a Buddhist Rakan (Arhat or Arahat), the emaciated figure wrapped in billowing robes with a hand scroll clutched in his bony right fist. The detail in the hairs around his face is incredible.
