A Collection of four medium sized porcelain boxes used to decorate the ancestral altar. The boxes are in the shape of a peach, a persimmon, a melon and a squash, and all have turquoise glazed interiors. Such boxes were used to hold trinkets and precious offerings when worshiping ones' ancestors. The peach measure 3" in diameter, The melon measures 3 1/4" in diameter, the persimmon measures 3 1/2" long, and the squash measures 3 3/4" long. The peach and melon are in excellent condition...

A four character calligraphy piece attributed to Liu Bingsen (1937-2005). Liu Bingsen was noted for his contemporary interpretations and styles in Chinese calligraphy. Four Chinese Ming dynasty green and amber lead-glazed pottery funerary figures with separately moulded removable heads, each standing on a hexagonal waisted plinth. The figures are accented with “cold painted” (unfired) red, white, and black pigments on the unglazed surfaces. The taller personal attendants are dressed in layered robes with long sleeves. The male figure has a square official’s hat and holds a makeup box...

Set of four Chinese Qing dynasty porcelain wine cups decorated in the doucai style in underglaze blue and overglaze famille rose enamels with a butterfly among flowering plants. An underglaze blue geometric border is at the rim. A six-character blue kaishu Daoguang mark (1821-1859) is on the base and the set is probably of the period. There are faint lightly incised “CHINA” marks to the bases for export purposes. About 3 3/8” diameter x slightly over 2 1/2” high...
