A spotted deer with high horns was an ancient ceramic toy. Nicely squeezed and mold in shape and obtained the artistic interest. Some similar pieces were found in Chinese documentation. Date: Song Dynasty, 11th/12th century. Height: 8.5cm. Condition: Broken in neck and re-glued. Some abrasions and debris in the glaze.

The base carries the six character reign mark of the Xuande emperor (1426-1435) but this item was made later during the last 100 years of the Qing dynasty (circa 1810-1910). The top and bottom borders are done in a royal blue cobalt contrasted by a turquoise backdrop entwined with golden wire. This wonderful item is dated to the late 19th century and stands 4 inches tall.

The box is lined with the original wood insert, which is extremely rare to find intact. All items has footed feet with blue enamel. Condition is excellent, save the tray that has a slight wavy rim to one side and minor enamel loss to a couple of the feet, which does not detract from the beauty of this rare set...

Sold. Thank you A very rare Chinese Nanmu scholar's table chest. Nanmu wood has been used in China since the Han dynasty and is very prized by collectors as it is difficult to find. I feel that it is rarer than huanghuali. I have only come across one Nanmu scholar's chest in all the years that I have been collecting.

Chinese Qing dynasty Daoguang period (1821-1850) geyao type porcelain censer of compressed bombe form with thick flat rim and two animal-mask handles at the sides. The pale gray glaze, covered overall with the characteristic black and brown crackles, completely covers the interior of the censer and the exterior of the ringed foot and extends part way down the interior foot of the recessed unglazed base. Measures 5” diameter from handle to handle and stands 2 ½” high...
