A Charming Early Chinese Han Dynasty cocoon Pottery jar. Short fluted neck flaring dramatically along the rim and a short flared foot. Large areas of old pigments in red, light pink, beige, white, and gold in swirling geometric patterns remain on the body. Stunning presence wonderful original condition. Antique Japanese Noh theatre mask of a young woman, or Onna. Hand-carved cypress wood with katabori chisel mark patina. Her face is hand-painted in dimensional flesh tones, with blackened teeth, red lips, and wisps of hair.

Chinese small bronze tripod incenser in the form of a peach. With tall cylindrical tripod feet, the base of the peach is inscribed with cartouche in relief. Provenance from Zeilig Gallery Collection, previously purchased from Spinks 1979.

Chinese calligraphy brush pot, all hand-carved from bamboo. The low relief carvings depict a group of scholars riding in a boat through a rocky landscape scene with hanging pine branches. The rendering is similar to ink painting. Has subtle silver inlay in the river.

Ancient bronze food container dating from the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD). With a domed cover with loop handles. When inverted the cover becomes a tripod dish. H. 15 cm, Diameter 21,5 cm. Condition: Good condition with excellent verdegris and lapis patina. Provenance: Collection Mr. Poel, antique dealer in Den Haag, ca. 1990, private collection Den Haag.

A Chinese bronze censer with stylized fish handles. The recessed base with a cast apocryphal Ming Xuande reign mark. 18th century.

An almost identical censer was auctioned at Christie’s “Interiors”, London, South Kensington, lot 795. 9th November, 2011. Results available on the Christie’s website.

Antique Chinese silk robe fragment richly embroidered with butterflies and flowers. Two large butterflies with beautifully elongated and swirling wings fly amidst a profusion of densely embroidered flowers. In the center, a flower bunch is embroidered using the forbidden stitch technique in shades of pink. Edged with golden Buddhist symbols. Framed.

A Rare Chinese ‘SHEN DE TANG BO GU ZHI’ Bowl, 16th ~ 17th Century

A fine and large porcelain bowl with a brown glaze draining from the mouth and leaving the rim with an attractive white line showing off the foliate edge. Within the foot-rim can be found the six-character mark shen de tang bo gu zhi, which may be translated, 'Antique made for the Hall for the Cultivation of Virtue'.
