Ming jar with blue underglaze chrysanthemum pattern in good condition, there are some glaze blemishes from firing noted in 2nd enlargement. Very nice shape. This was fired in Guangdong Province - locally, this type is referred to as a “gunpowder” jar although, I don’t know if this was it what it was really used for. H: 15cm/5.9in and D: 18.5cm/7.2in.

Muted gold glimmers softly on the outside of this Te-Oke shaped water container by Hattori Shunsho enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Mizusashi, Tsuki no Umi (Moon on the sea). The top of the box is covered in a design of inlayed mother of pearl rippling over a glistening gold orb like the moon reflecting off of water. It is 22.5 cm (9 inches) diameter, 24 cm (9-1/2 inches) tall and in excellent condition.
