The surface of this rough slab is like an eroded plain with rivulets of glass running to a clouded pool in the center, signed along the edge and enclosed in the original signed wooden box by Sugimoto Sadamitsu. It is roughly 20-1/2 x 8-1/2 x 3 inches (52 x 21.5 x 8 cm) and in perfect condition.

The print features a close-up of a Japanese woman and her lover - a rare find!

The print was purchased in an antique bookstore in Jinbocho Tokyo 1951 and is in good condition with minor staining (see photos below).

Impressing black Raku tea bowl, signed Kichizaemon, of the Raku family.

The signed box is labeled “10th generation”, which means Tan-nyu (1795-1854). It represents true Japanese Chado, made from of one of the most famous potter clans in Japan. Most pieces of Kichizaemon Tan-nyu are hold in museums.

This delightful small pottery bowl was made during the late Song dynasty of China (around 1200 A.D.).

Originating from the Jian kilns of Fujian province, it has a base of rough, unglazed clay, and a rare streaked ‘hare’s fur’ glaze, made using iron oxide in the firing process.

The rim has a rust red glaze, and would have been made separately from the main body.
