This is Kagura-screen used in Kanto area for the Meiji period(1895). As for this, cotton spun by hand is used. Standing Jizo Bosatsu, the garment-clad hands bearing aloft a hoju (sacred jewel), sculpted in bold relief from a brick-hued igneous stone, now darkly patinated. Clearly dated to the fourth year of the Kyowa Era (1804), late-Edo Period. Very minor old loss. Variegated lichen accumulation overall.

A heavy porcelain jardinere or plant holder very finely painted with flowering peony and other shrubs in shades of underglaze blue and standing on three Chinese Ming Dynasty style Lion head feet. This item was made in Japan during either the late 19th or early 20th Century. Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 21cm (8.25 inches) high; 31cm (12.25 inches) diameter.

A fine small ivory okimono of Jurojin holding a peach with a deer at his side. The figurine measures 2.25" (5.7 cm) high. Signed on bottom, it is in excellent condition. Price $650 USD.

An ancient technique known as “haito” in Japanese was used to give this piece its distinctive look. Thought to have originated in neolithic times and commonly used during the T’ang and Song dynasties in China, an excess of fuel is added at the very end of firing which causes a thick layer of grey ash to adhere to the outside of the vessel. Below the ash glaze of this piece is a yellow amber reflective coating that shows through in areas giving it an almost imperceptible glittering effect ...

Chinese guilt bronze buddha, 20th century. A buddha with his hands in mudra, the gesture for meditation. The buddha is seated on a lotus blossom blooming out of another lotus blossom, atop a hexagonal base. It measures 14" tall, 5" wide at base.

Antique Chinese fine famille rose porcelain vase with landscape of mountains and lake. The vase is an elegant shape with defined calligraphy. This style of decoration was popular in the 1930s. The base bears the studio name: Yitao Zhai, similar in style to the Society of Eight Friends. Produced by Zhang Zhitang (1893-1971). It measures 14" tall x 6.5" wide.

An underglaze blue decorated porcelain coffee cup, painted with flowers and butterflies. This item was made in Jingdezhen, China, for export to Europe, during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1736-1795). Condition: excellent - no damages and no restoration. 5.5cm (2.2inches0 high; 6.5cm (2.5inches) diameter.

A bakumatsu era (mid 19th century) Shishi Koro of dark red clay covered in a rich green glaze from the Banko kilns in Mie. It is 14 x 24 x 8 cm (9 x 5-1/2 x 3 inches) and is in fine condition but for one clawed toe which has been chipped. This squat style of facial expression was popular from the declining years of the Edo period into the early Meiji, and fits the date of this piece perfectly.

Original woodblock of a samurai by Japanese master and teacher Toyokuni Utagawa, 1769-1825. Signed in lower left, the print is float mounted. In very good antique condition, there is some worm hole damage along the right edge. Measures sight size 13.5 inches high, 9.25 inches high.
