Although we are not certain from which Neolithic culture it originates, it does have similarities to pottery of the Xindian Culture (c. 1200 - 500 BC). Sold An armorer's (katshushi) tsuba by Miochin Munekane (signed.) Of smaller size associated with wakizashi. Engraved katakiri-bori flowers and vine decoration (six petals on vine, possibly clematis.) Artist line active between 1818 and 1887. Ex Robert Haynes collection. Good condition. A larger, sukashi tsuba at least by the same line, also signed Miochin Munekane, is in the Brooklyn Museum. 2 9/16 inches (6.5 cm) X 2 3/8 inches (6.1 cm) and 1/8 inch (.4 cm) thick.

Sold, Thank you! Ink on paper in a fine brocade border with ivory rollers and enclosed in the original signed double wood box (nijubako). It is 26 x 56 inches (66 x 143 cm) and is in overall fine condition. The rollers will be changed in event it is being shipped overseas.

Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) Satsuma earthenware vase finely decorated around the circumference in polychrome enamel and gilt highlights with ladies and girls of the nobility engaged in leisure activities in an outdoor garden setting. The vase is moulded with densely decorated relief petals at the top and bottom. Koyama Nanpo mark to base. 6 1/8” high. 19th century. Excellent overall condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. From an old Scottsdale, Arizona collection.

She is wonderfully sculpted with realistic detailing and form. The hardwood stand she is seated on is carved to look like rock formations with leaves and mushrooms with pigment traces. His name means "Greater than Time" as he upholds ultimate rule and power over all forces, including time and death. This hand carved mask is indeed very fierce looking, with signs of wear and traces of old lacquer all throughout.

$110.00 Japanese black lacquered woven Bamboo Trunk, Meiji period, early 1900's, 11" high, 25" x 15" wide, with large and heavy black iron handles supported by wooden board on both side, paper lining inside and metal hinges on top to open one side of the top cover. This Bamboo Trunk is good to storing Dolls and other necessary light weight items. There are some black lacquer loses on the surface.
