This wonderfully-shaped pottery jar of very good proportions was made during the early part of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8) or possibly as early as the Qin Dynasty (221 - 206 BC). This type of jar is often referred to as a "cocoon jar" due to the shape of its body. Its function was that of a grain storage jar.

This is a precious Yosegire Kimono made with silk fabric from the Genroku period (1688-1704) using Yuzen dyeing. The perfectly refined Itome glue-resist dyed Tsutsugaki lines on the green silk are as thin and delicate as threads.
