Rare and early vintage albumen print of the Shimbashi Railway Station in Tokyo, with festive decoration and banners wearing the imperial seal "kiku-mon". The Tokyo to Yokohama rail line opened on 14th October 1872, with a great ceremony as the emperor took the first official ride, arriving at Shimbashi Station in a Western carriage. Japanese print of a woman holding a calligraphy paint brush, by Shiko Munakata (1903-1975). A zen Buddhist, he worked in oil painting, then woodblock printing, calligraphy and ceramics. He is sometimes called the Japanese Picasso because of his prolific multi media creative work. He was part of the sasuka-hanga movement and the mingei, folk art, movement. He is from the northern region of Aomori and incorporated many of those local themes into his art...

A Japanese mezzotint print by artist Katsunori Hamanishi (b. 1949-present). He graduated with an art degree from Tokai University in 1973 and has since been living in Kyoto to work on his printmaking.

This mezzotint is titled "Play-I", numbered 20/70 of its series, and hand signed by the artist in pencil.

This early undated image is pencil-signed, titled, and numbered 26/30 in the lower left margin. Paper size: 28 5/8" x 22". This print was never framed and is in excellent overall condition. From a Phoenix, Arizona estate. It was originally purchased from the Tolman Collection.

Japanese limited-edition copperplate etching titled "Big Tree No. 2" by Tanaka Ryohei (1933-2019). Pencil-signed, dated '83, and numbered 33/130 in the lower margin. Paper size 13 1/4" x 12” (image: 9 x 8 1/4"). Never framed. Very good overall condition. There are a few pinhead sized light brown spots in the margin.

Original Japanese print by well known artist Mayumi Oda (1941-present), titled "Let Wisdom Arise Within Us" (Blue) , number 23/100, and signed in pencil along the bottom. Wonderful depiction of a goddess wielding a sword while riding on the back of a growling fu lion, surrounded by large bouquets of peonies, the flower petals blown around her by mystic winds.

Antique Japanese framed abstract print, signed Takeshi Hara (1942-present) in pencil, number 36/60, titled "Strokes 74-1". Hara was born in Nagoya, Japan in 1942 and graduated the Oil Painting Dept. of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts in 1967. He later went on to become a professor in the Dept. of Painting at Tokyo Zokei University until he retired in 2008...
