Up for sale is our oldest Japanese Tokkuri (Sake bottle). It dates from the Momoyama Period with an age of 400 years and has a very tasteful glaze with vivid colours. Close to the bottom there is a kiln mark (refer to picture no. 6)

The 14 petal Imperial Chrysanthemum forms a triad emblazoned in gold on the lid of this exquisite mizusashi fresh water jar by Imperial Court Artist Ito Tozan I enclosed in the original signed wooden box dated as having been received in June 1911. A Japanese totai ceramic plate with butterflies on a turquoise ground. Signed on bottom Kinkozan and in very good condition without any damage, no hairlines, no chips, it measures 7.25 inches diameter. Meiji Era. We have a 2nd plate in same butterfly pattern available.

Highlighting our trip back to the years of change in the sixties and seventies is this masterpiece by Miyashita Zenji exhibited in 1972. The box is titled Ban, Shizukana Kukan no Tame ni (Basin, For a Quiet Space) and signed Zenji-saku, dated inside Showa 47 (1972) with a notation stating this piece was displayed at the 2nd Gendai Nihon Shinjin Sakka Ten (2nd Modern Japanese New Artists Exhibition). Set of three Japanese blue and white porcelain choko. Alternating panels of bamboo and flower decoration. Three friends of winter roundel inside cups. Patterned bands inside rim and above foot. This adorable antique Japanese Sumida Gawa vase has turned iron-red body, neck covered with a glaze of various shades of grey, green and black dripping down the shoulder and into the mouth. With children carrying a Buddhist drum and seated on the side of the vase. This piece is signed on a glazed plaque on side.

Condition: The vase is in good overall condition. As the photos show there is minor old damage; one of child's hand is missing and there is a crack on the body...
