A dark blue satin woman's garment, dating to the late Qing dynasty, with center opening fastened with a gilt metal ball button and two ribbons. The four lobed collar, terminating in ruyi heads, and all wide hems extravagantly embroidered with romance figures in Peking stitch and little gold thread couching. Trimmed with different woven borders, the straight sleeves with embroidered outer cuff bands. Later figured blue silk lining. Condition: very good, only partial little staining...

Superb chinese fluorite carving of Guanyin with a weight of 2,1 kg, made around 1750. It is Jade green in areas and almost clear in others and it shows the numerous flaws running through so stone typical of so-called green quartz (actually fluorite). It is raised on a hardwood stand, which is forming the torso of the Guanyin.

Wonderful and unusual display piece with a cubistic aesthetic - definitely singular.

DESCRIPTION: An unusual and dynamic Chinese scroll weight of two lions carved from a single slab of very dark wood (Zitan? Ebony?). The lions stand on a rectangular base with left paws touching a brocade ball, each facing opposite directions and each with fierce expression, one gazing upwards and the other looking straight ahead. The wood is very dense with a hair-like grain and purple undertones. Because of the lions' curved backs, this weight could have been used as a brush rest as well...

An interesting set of two Chinese Canton paintings depicting two festival scenes that were possibly seen on the streets in China during the Qing dynasty. The top view depicts a figure riding a horse and people are flocking to receive blessings. The bottom scene is showing a theatrical troupe passing by. The painting contains techniques that were brought in from the West in Canton during the 19th century. Age: 19th century Size: Length 15.5" Height 19.75"
