Rare Song celadon circa 10th CE, from the Longquan Kiln, Zhejiang. The glaze is a deep even light olive green, with clear lightly incised floral pattern on the underside. There is one hairline glaze firing crack in the cavetto which is visible about 2cm on either side of the footrim but does not go all the way through- noted in enlargements. D: 14.8cm/5.8in and H: 4.3cm/1.7in.

Good porcelain quality Qingbai bowl from Jingdezhen with classic sea green colored glaze and sugar like clay body. There is an internal firing hairline crack noted midway in the cavetto noted in enlargements- still has a clear bell like tone when tapped. . There are remnants of an original metal rim fused on the mouth rim. D: 16cm/6.2in and H: 5.9cm/2.2in.

Pair of Song Dynasty soy brown, Jian type bowls from the Dongzhang/Minhou Fuzhou kiln recovered from the Lianjiang shipwreck. Good condition, no damage or repairs, there is some original kiln grit in the cavetto and a minor irregularity on the rim of one. D: 10cm/4in and H: 4.5cm/1.8in. May still be used in a tea ceremony.

Beautiful classic Cizhou ware pillow molded into the shape of a cat- circa late Qing Dynasty. This has a very charismatic almost human like face with a bright sprig of cobalt blue foliage on the back. L: 25.5cm/10in and H: 13cm/5.1in. Excellent condition.

Deep “pine needle” green small square saucer circa 17th century with lightly incised dragon in the center. Good paraffin patina, minor scratching in cavetto but no cracks or damage. 10.3cm/4.1in x 10.3cm/4.1in.

Chinese Song Dynasty Jizhou Prunus Blossom Stoneware Tea Bowl

This very interesting and attractive bowl was made by the Jizhou potters in Jiangxi province around the 12th to 13th centuries during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). The pattern features prunus blossoms on a streaky yellowish-brown background, the effect achieved by the "paper cut" method...

Song Qingbai bowl with high foot rim and thick classic aquamarine Qingbai glaze, there is a 1cm hairline off the mouthrim (noted in last enlargement) otherwise good condition. The glaze is absolutely fabulous. D: 14cm/5.5in and H: 7cm/2.8in

Very rare small celadon Yueyao lugged jar from a Zhejiang Kiln, circa Five Dynasties/Early Northern Song. This type of ceramic was a precursor to Longquan ware. There is a firing crack and some fritting (caused by pockets of air trapped beneath the glaze during firing) on one side- noted in enlargements. D: 9cm/3.5in and H: 6cm/24in. I have added a cosmetic "enhancement" (filled the crack and applied gold leaf).

Rare Chinese Tang Dynasty Changsha Glazed Stoneware Ewer with Phoenix

This rare stoneware ewer was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906) at the Changsha kilns, Hunan province, generally accepted to be the first kilns to produce underglaze polychrome decorated ceramics. The front of the body has been decorated with a phoenix over a landscape in green and brown, that appears almost red where at its thickest...

Classic Liao 916CE–1125CE (aka Khitan) brown glazed sancai bottle. The Liao were a non-Han nomadic people, so the shape of this bottle resembles a leather flask that would be used by a culture on horseback. There are some kiln scars on the handle where it had come into contact with another piece during firing, which is a common feature from this genre of ware. Otherwise perfect condition, the glaze stable with a rich color. H: 28cm/11.4in and D:14cm/4.8in.

Chinese antique ceramic sculpture of Guanyin standing in a rocky grotto. Symbolic of a sacred space, the rocks are highly three dimensional and the sculpture has a front and back. Guanyin stands with each foot on a lotus emerging from flowing water. She holds a long strand of prayer beads and is surrounded by a yellow nimbus. On the reverse side, a deer and two monkeys balance on rocky outcrops...

Lovely Jin Dynasty circa 1115-1234CE, from a northern kiln, jar with near tea dust colored soy brown glaze, excellent original condition, heavily potted with two lugs. Please note tow subtle russet splashes in last enlargement. D: 10.5cm/4.1in and H: 8.1cm/3.2in.

Rare Chinese Southern Dynasties Glazed Stoneware Jar

This rare and nicely-shaped stoneware jar was made during the Southern Dynasties period (AD 420 - 589). Such wares from this period are rare and quite distinctive. This jar has a flat base, a narrow neck and a saucer-shaper mouth with a vertical edge. There are two "square-cut" loop handles on opposite sides of the shoulder...

Classic celadon Yueyao glazed bowl from Zhejiang circa Tang to 5 Dynasties, circa 706 to 979CE. Unglazed circle at the bottom of the cavetto is where another bowl was stacked while being fired. There are couple of very small firing hairlines and tiny chips on the rim, otherwise good condition for an 1100 year old ceramic. D: 15cm/5.9in and H: 5.8cm/2.2in.

Fine Chinese Song or Liao Dynasty Cizhou Stoneware Bottle

This fine and attractive small bottle was made at one of the Cizhou kilns in the north of China during either the Liao Dynasty (AD 907 - 1125) or the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). It is "heavily-potted" with a wide body and a narrow ribbed neck. The body has been coated in a white slip on top of which is a slightly honey-coloured clear glaze that is very finely-crackled...
