A rare Chinese jade carving of a recumbent water buffalo. Laying with legs folded under his body, the buffalo extends his head forward. His ribbed horns curve backward, the tips almost meeting behind his neck. The artist's skill is evident in the naturalistic slope of the buffalo's spine over his rotund form as well as in the details of his face and tail...

This is an authentic nephrite jade notched ritual axe, measuring just under 8" in length and 2-3/4" at the widest (20cm X 7cm). The holes are each drilled conically from one side only. Exceptionally well polished. The stone is a grayish-tan with both lighter and darker inclusions. The piece has a wonderful presence. Guaranteed authentic.

18C Chinese domed jade plaque carved in low relief with Buddhist auspicious symbols. Color is a whitish pale celadon. It is carved very, very thin with two sets of small holes to the back edge. This may have been attached to clothing or fabric or, perhaps, attached to a large ruyi scepter. Condition is excellent and it is wonderfully translucent. Measures: 4" x 3.25".

This is an authentic example of a well-known type of ritual axe, known as a "yue." It measures 4" in length and 3-3/8" at its widest point (10cm X 8.5cm). The surface has a beautiful, smooth polish; the "blade" has a beveled edge and has been sharpened, although it shows no signs of actual use. The large hole has been conically drilled. The stone is a variegated mid-green with some darker inclusions. In all, a very beautiful piece, guaranteed to be authentic.

This is an authentic archaic Chinese nephrite jade sword fitting which would have been attached to the pommel of a sword. The obverse features an animal, a tiger or a bear, in profile, while the reverse has a six-character inscription, now somewhat worn. The piece is drilled biconically from top to bottom for attachment. It measures 1-1/2" wide by 1-1/4" in height. Depth is approximately 1/2" (4cm X 3cm X 1mm). The jade is caramel colored with some darker inclusions.

Vintage 1930s-40s Chinese bamboo carved brush pot with good scenes. It is in wonderful antique condition with some age lines and one light split showing proper age with great patina and feel. Measures Height 7.25" x Diameter 5"

This is a superbly well carved jade piece dating, I believe, most probably to the Song dynasty, circa 1100AD, although possibly a tad later. The jade is a grayish-green nephrite and is truly the work of a highly accomplished artist. It measures some 3" in length and is 2" in height (7.5cm X 5cm). 1/4" in depth (1mm). A real beauty! Guaranteed authentic to the original purchaser.

This is an authentic and very fine example of a type of neolithic ornament customarily described as a joined three-ring pendant. The type is documented as, apparently, originating with the Hongshan culture, but also found in the Dawenkou and other early, neolithic cultures. For a discussion of this type of ornament, see Rawson, Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing, Part 1. A piece very similar to this one is pictured as figure 1 and dated circa 3500BC...

This is an authentic archaic nephrite jade maskette or amulet which may, I speculate, have been sewn to an article of clothing or burial cloth, although, of course, there is no way to know for certain. Note the characteristic "cow eye" shaped holes on the underside, often a "telltale" of archaic jades from this culture (Hongshan). Made from a mottled gray-green nephrite, the piece measures just under 1-1/2" square. Two large almond-shaped eyes dominate the piece...
