White jade carving of a ruyi shaped belt hook. Scrolling clouds are carved around the handle of the ruyi scepter and the hook area and the top are shaped in the form of the lingzhi fungus. Age: Qing Dynasty 18th century Size: height 0.75" width 0.5" length 3.5"

Jade carving of a bat spreading its wings on one side and on another side a coin shaped motif. Bats are considered to be an auspicious animal where the name is synonymous to fortune in Chinese. The coin contains a four character engraving possibly reading: Fu Shou Quan Shuang, or roughly translated as having both fortune and longevity. An archaic style Chinese jade object in the style of Han burial Jade objects. Top contains a motif of mythical beasts and the center section is incised with scrolling vines with a circular hole carved out in the center.The clear line seen below the beasts is a plastic wire to attach the jade piece on the black felt panel. A creamy-beige colored crouching chimera. Open-mouthed and with head tilted upward, the details are nicely carved. There are some rusty-brown colored inclusions from long burial. Period: Song (960-1279D) Size: H = 1-1/2", Length = 2-1/2" Condition: Very good

Superbly and detailed antique agate carving in the form of a gourd with leaves, smaller gourds, and a bat. In East Asia the gourd is considered an auspicious plant and in China the bat is synonymous to the word fortune in Chinese. Hence, the motif is often seen in various works of art.
