Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vase. Showa period, circa 1930-1950. The body of the vase is red with a pink chrysanthemum amongst white peonies with a green orchid. The red color, known as akasuke, is difficult to produce. Only the most skilled artisans can create the rich ruby red color and the transparent element where the motif on the vase shows through the glaze. Excellent condition, no scratches or dents. A beautifully rendered statue of Lu Xing, the Chinese God of Wealth and one of the 3 Star Gods. Richly painted in bright floral patterns and scrolling tendrils, it is in excellent condition. Han Dynasty pottery vase. Authentic and of the period, 221 B.C. to 206 A.D. In the photos, you can see the firing supports that are still intact, as well as the oxidation of the lead glaze, with the silver bleeding through to the surface, all of which lend to its authenticity. It is worth noting that there are several incised bands around the circumference of the jar. Measures approximately 17” (43.2 cm)tall and 10” diameter at widest.
