Sold through our Liverpool shop - October 2012 利物浦店内售出 - 2012年10月 An intricately carved soapstone wine (or tea) pot with attractive "Chicken Blood" red inclusions. This item was made in China, circa 1870-1900, during the late Qing dynasty. Condition - the spout has been broken and re-glued; there are minor chips to the prunus branch decoration and to the tip of the spout 19cm (7.5 inches) long; 10cm (4 inches) high. Weight - 740gm (23oz).

A pair of Jianyang hare-furs tea bowls was well mold in fine shape. In evert mouth rim, the bowls were stand by circular foot rings. Characteristic of smoothened surface was found at the foot ring where the body clay was revealed. It was caused due to age. Incursions were also found on the mouth rim. The stem is decorated with buddhist knots and stylized plantain leaves. To the inside of the base is the four character mark of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722) but this item was probably made later, during the 19th Century. The puppet consists of several moving parts. The head and neck are two separate pieces that move up and down. Sold An Edo period Oribe sake bottle of simple but full proportions and with classically Japanese Zen decoration - austerely yet sensitively placed grass and blooms decoration in iron oxide on the softly crackled opaque off-white glaze ever so slightly scorched in the kiln on two sides where the body is almost slightly exposed and oxidized to a buff tone at those points. Inlaid mother of pearl decoration of figures in landscape on black lacquer in the center surrounded by red lacquer. A band of black lacquer also exposed just inside the rim - also with mother of pearl inlay. The egde of the charger rubbed for that prized negoro affect of exposing the black lacquer background through an invariably worn coat of red lacquer.
