Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Glazed Porcelain Bowl

This porcelain bowl was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279). Although a fairly modest example with no decoration other than the glaze, it is its simplicity alone that makes it so appealing. The colour of the qingbai glaze on such wares can vary greatly according to what the conditions in the kiln were like during firing. The pale glaze has a greenish tint to it and is finely-crackled.
