$3,500.00 A four drawer lacquered gyosho tansu. The tansu has metal work advertising the medicine the peddling merchant was selling. The medicine, soge-nuki kusuri (written on the box) aids in removing splinters. The medicine was made by Shiota Nadaya Juzaemon who was based near Takabashi, Shinbashi in Osaka city. The fuchigashira are done in polished shibuichi bronze. The set comes with a special kiri box with purple chirimen silk to store the set.

This coil basket is perfectly symmetrical and has nice warm patina. The coil weaving technique, materials (finely split rattan and nito vine), and design are consistent with baskets made by the Kalinga tribe. It has one of the most beautiful Kintsugi repairs we have ever seen. A mixture of lacquer and gold powder showing a traditional Karakusa pattern. There is no comparable bowl - a real unicum.
