Rare black Lanna lacquer box circa 70 to 90 years old in excellent condition given its age, no repairs or big chunk missing, from Chiang Mai. Genuine old examples of Thai lacquer are quite rare these days as most have been bought up by Thai collectors. H: 8.7cm/3.4in and D: 11cm/4.2in.

A beautiful Thai painting portraying a Jataka tale. A royal chariot of with the future Buddha before he renounced his royal position. At the bottom of the painting four devotees are holding lotus buds perhaps indicative of another time frame. Done with mineral pigments and the most exquisite coloration. Large vintage “bush knife” from Lanna Thailand, this is an all purpose tool with a thick spine and very sharp edge- quite heavy as well. The blade is fixed with a steel collar and woven rattan and comes with a bamboo basket type sheath. Total L: 54cm/22.2in (blade L: 29cm/11.5in and handle L: 25cm/10.5in). This is an artisanal village made piece and not mass produced.

The rectangular box with ornate gilt decorated panels (each a different scene), three on each side and one on each end, of deities in combat on black lacquered surface. the interior painted red. A very fine gilded bronze Buddha, sitting on Naga. H. 17 cm. Condition: Casting flawa, chips to the foot rim, the Naga head, which used to be behind the Buddha head, is missing. Nevertheless a very attractive piece with a serene expression.

This lovely 19th century piece came from a Dutch private collection where it has been since the 1980's. It is 55 cm high and at the base it measures 25x25 cm. It has normal age wear and a wonderful old patina.

One of the great rarities of Thai incised lacquer is this wonderfully detailed condiment box in various colors of burgundy, orange red, yellow, green, and light red lacquer. It is said that the more colors and details found in Thai lacquer, the more expensive it was to produce. Thai Sawankhalok 13th/15th Century Stoneware Bottle (Ex. Grahame Clarke Collection)

This finely-shaped stoneware bottle, with its pear-shaped body and wide flaring mouth, was made during the 13th - 15th Century at one of the Sawankhalok kilns. It is quite "heavily-potted" and coated in a very unusual glaze of a dark greenish-blue colour with a most attractive crackled effect. There are incised bands around the neck. The glaze has run and sagged toward the unglazed lower body.
