Here is a masterpiece by Wakao Toshisada, one of the great artists of the post-war era who helped to revive the Shino tradition (now one of the most popular Japanese forms) from extinction. It is performed with unreasonably thick pigments and textures, rising 1/2 an inch (1 cm) of the canvas surface.
