SOLD A rare Chinese Tang Dynasty marble-glazed miniature ceramic tripod container with lid. The marble technique called jiao you (mixed glaze) was developed during the Tang Dynasty. The marble effect was achieved by first mixing dark and light slip on the surface of the vessel and then creating a design as the slip ran together. The entire vessel was then glazed a transparent green allowing the marble effect to show through.
