Unusual Thai architectural sculpture known as a chofa. These beast-like ornaments embellish temple and palace rooftops as a symbol of power and protection. Natural patina and remnants of red show antiquity. A photo is shown to demonstrate how a chofa would look while still in place on a temple roof. The temple shown is in Chiang Mai, the largest and most culturally rich city in Thailand.

Antique Japanese 2 section isho tansu (chest on chest for clothing), made of kiri (paulownia) wood. The top section has two large drawers and the bottom section has two drawers of different widths. The lower right hand corner has a hinged safe box door which opens to reveal two small interior drawers. Hardware is made of iron and includes square lock plates and square drawer pulls.

An Antique Bulgarian belt with a large, brass buckle that is embellished with intricate damascene carvings of flowers and a raised portion of double domes topped with an image of a woman's profile at it's center. The main buckle is framed by to lesser domes. The buckle has a hook hinge in the back and is secured with a chain and pin closure. The belt is of embroidered silk on a leather background with interspersed double stacked brass tubes.

Chinese monochrome golden yellow Peking Glass brush washer with relief carvings of a repetitive petal design. The bottom is marked by a four character cartouche.

Chinese monochrome yellow Peking Glass brush pot. Historically, many pieces of Peking glass were made with yellow glass (dubbed "Imperial Yellow") due to the colors' strong association with the Qing Imperial clan of Aisin Gioro. The glass was commonly used in vases and brush pots where it was used to imitate the harder to work jade and other precious stones.

This is a Japanese antique indigo dye cotton shibori kimono of asamai of the taisyo era. It has several faint stains. But that is no damage. Size:Length:150cm / 59inch Width:: 128cm / 50.3inch

A boxwood carving netsuke in a classic mushroom shape with very fine detailing.
Mushrooms are associated with the natural beauty of the forest. They are considered a good-luck symbol. Finding a mushroom is considered to be very lucky and means good fortune is at hand.
This netsuke has the signature mark of Yamada.

A unique Ko-sumetsuke tea ceremony plate with an unusual motif of a raging bull. The center of the plate is divided into 5 sections with scrolling vines and chrysanthemums. The central figure is a raging bull in a pine forest with rounded fronds. The perimeter of the dish is ringed with a classic cloud image. Ko-sometsuke (old blue and white) porcelain was produced specifically for the Japanese market during the final decades of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). The bottom of the plate has a marker...

This traditional summer weight Manchu style (side closing)vest is from late Qing Dynasty. The lush deep blue silk fabric has a jacquard weave with an all over fret design. The lining is of deep maroon silk..the vest is entirely hand sewn, and fits a small to medium size woman.

A very rare and fine Japanese Satsuma water dropper in the form of a Kyoto style saki pot. Delicately painted with figures and flowers, it is supported on three tiny feet and signed on bottom. In excellent condition, this treasure measures a mere 2 5/8 in diameter and about 1.25" high. Dates Meiji Period, 1868-1912.

Very artistic Japanese bronze vase with drip design reminiscent of an overflowing jar. Beautiful patina. It is paired with an wooden Art Deco Chinese stand of the same period. Unsigned. In excellent condition, the vase measures 6" high x 4.5" diameter. On stand 7.25" high. Dates late Meiji, early Taisho.

Umber glazed porcelain Chinese scholar's brush rest. Measures 2 3/4 inches high, 2 5/8" across. Condition very good with just 2 old chips on base. Circa 1900 or earlier.

This is a fine Japanese Satsuma sake pot or small teapot. It is signed by Kinkozan. Still retains part of the original Kinkozan sticker on the underside of the lid. Which means this piece was never used as a saki or teapot. It measures 4 1/2 inches across at the spout. The handle is slightly tattered but the pot is in excellent condition.

A wonderful small porcelain vase in the mille fleur palette, beautifully done by a Chinese artisan. A spiny coral dragon with a tiny gold gilt design wraps around the neck adorning this flowery beauty. Dating circa 1900, these are now extremely hard to find. Measures 4.75" high.

A watch fob made up of 4 Satsuma decorative ceramic rounds with metal surrounds and chains. The backs of the mountings have the impressed Satsuma mark. The fob measures about 5" long, and the largest round measures about 1". The fob dates to the late 19th/early 20th Centuries. The condition is excellent/perfect. The asking price includes shipping within the USA.

An elegant antique Hangai Tansu made of solid quartered sawn keyaki wood with hand forged square iron handles and elaborate key. Hangai is a clothing chest used on ships. It has a single drop-fit door. Keyaki wood has a beautiful wavy natural grain, a bright and calm color and strength. This Tansu comes with a key that unlocks the chest with 2 side locks to uncover two large drawers.
