Japanese box made of boxwood carved in the shape of a giant clam shell upon which sits an arhat. His robes are beautifully decorated with gold maki-e lacquer. He holds a sharp tool as if he may attempt to open the enormous shell. Meiji Period (1868-1912).

This is a very elegant and high quality Japanese silk obi from Nishijin, Kyoto. The dimensions of the obi are 12 1/4" wide and 160 3/4" (13'4 3/4") long. About two-thirds of the front (104" long) is woven with gold. There are 2 full designs of an ox-cart with pine branches in the center area – only one of them is shown in the first photo – the other one is on the other side.

Japanese cotton obi from mid to late Showa period, 1980s(?). This obi was sold from the Mitsukoshi Department Store (2 logos attached at the corner). 100 percent cotton, new condition with some color loss. 12 1/4" wide x 141" long; it weighs approx. 1.2 pounds.

Antique Chinese skirt with green velvet panels embroidered with images of flowers and bats. It is very unusual to find these skirts with velvet panels. Measuring 39 inches long, it is in good used condition. There is some staining (water marks?)on silk areas, embroidered velvet panels in very good condition with the exception of one tear about 3" that can be easily repaired. Wear at hem border ribbon.

Small wool carpet with lotus design. Large central lotus is dark blue on pink hued ground. It is surrounded by blue and pink blooms. It measures 27" by 24". Made of wool. Overall good condition.

Beautifully embroidered "Goa" priest vestment from india. Goa was a Portuguese colony off the coast of India. It is embroidered with shades of blue, red, pink, yellow, orange, and green. There is a floral scrolling pattern on front and back with smaller flowers.

17th Century Porcelain MING Bowl (circa 1620) most likely from Guangyinge kiln complex, Jingdezhen, with glossy ganodema or Linzhi fungus decor which is a medicinal plant reputed as an "elixir of life" and also a symbol of logevity in ancient China. A very finely carved hardwood ox or buffalo, surmounted by a young boy, on original stand, probably made for export during the second half of the 19th Century circa 1850-1900 . Condition - excellent - one glass eye of the boy is missing but, unusually, there is no damage at all to the sculpture and there has been no restoration.
