Japanese woodworking techniques used in making this chest include through mortise and tenon joinery and hardened wood nails. Original hand forged iron hardware including the Kakute handles. sold A Chinese porcelain water pipe made for the Imperial Palace in Hue. Decoration of dragons in cobalt blue underglaze. Below 4 characters in blue and, which is unusual, 4 other characters incised under glassure, perhaps the mark of the potter or the commander. The silver setting of very good quality is a fine example of fine goldsmith's work, it is perhaps -be Chinese but more probably Annamese. It is exceptional to find a water pipe of this quality.

Conservatoire Sakura
$700.00 porcelain kuan-yin enameled in iron red and copper green. Green enamel has an unusual iridescent metallic appearance that seems to be peculiar to an era or a production site. The statuette is made in a mold in 2 parts, the joint is visible below. The unglazed parts, at least the base, were covered with lacquer and gold which have disappeared leaving only traces (look photo).
I attach the picture of a Guan-Yin with similar green.

sold, with thanks! Delicate flowers in blue on this vase by Kiyomizu Rokubei VI enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Shuyo Kokyo Kabin. Kokyo is the Chines Bellflower. Shuyo is a type of pottery developed by and unique to Rokubei VI whereupon the image is painted onto the pot, then covered with impure pine ash glaze resulting in a very wabi-sabi aesthetic. This vase is 25 cm (10 inches) tall and in excellent condition dating from the 1970s.

SOLD Antique Chinese gilt copper repoussé box with hinged lid. Decorated all over with finely detailed designs of birds in blossoming branches. A phoenix adorns the front and back of the box and white jade carved in the form of three fruits (probably peaches) decorates the lid.
