Distorted shoe shaped (kutsugata) tea bowl made of light, coarse unrefined Mino clay.

A very lovely natural green Burmese jadite necklace, all stones were selected to match, none were dyed. The clasp is marked 'silver' and by the art deco design of it we date the piece to the 1920 - 1930's. The necklace measures 24" and consists of three strands. Cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay. The style of the foot lets it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls. But the shape of the expertly thrown body, the orange skin effect on the typical Shino glaze with beautiful orange 'fire colour' recalls the days of the single chamber kilns, but the glaze and the somewhat irregular foot is typical for the late production of the 1620's at the Motoyashiki and Kamagane kilns.
