A spectacular orb hearkening to the Sputnick era created by Hasegawa Isamu and exhibited at the 11th Nitten in 1955, enclosed in the original signed wooden box. The circular form is cleft with two equal but opposite dimples, offering both a futuristic and archaic dimension. It is 38 cm (15 inches) Diameter and in excellent condition.

A moon-like orb awash in an atmosphere of rust and oxide by Hashimoto Tomonari enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled simply (as with all his works) Untitled. It is 27 cm (9-1/2 inches) diameter and in excellent condition, directly from this young and important artist. A similar piece went into the collection of the V&A in London last year.

Rare antique Japanese tansu chest from Takayama city in the Hida region of Gifu Prefecture. Made of hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood with orangish lacquer finish. Iron hardware includes scalloped drawer corners and round lock plates on the three small drawers which line the upper portion of the chest. Below this are four larger drawers with hirute drawer pulls. The large drawers are held in place with a locking bar.

Tsuba in shakudo decorated with a floral basket flown over by butterflies. Inlays (Taka Zogan) in solid gold, in fact the flowers are not in gilded copper as usual but in cast solid gold. The nanako background is particularly regular and deep. The artist used gold of two shades, a pure yellow and a pale yellow probably due to the addition of platinum or silver. Large Chinese Early Tang Dynasty Pottery Horse with Oxford TL Test

This impressive pottery horse was made during the early part of the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a grey pottery and is quite "heavily-potted". The horse stands upright with its head and neck turned very slightly to its left.

Height 39 cm (15.5 inches). This horse is available for inspection, here at our gallery in Brighton.

Large Chinese Northern Wei Dynasty Painted Pottery Saddled Horse with Oxford TL Test

This impressive pottery horse was made during the latter part of the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 386 - 534). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery and is quite "heavily-potted". Its surface has been cold-painted in a creamy-white pigment, good traces of which still remain. The horse stands upright and alert. On its back is a large integral saddle.

Cast bronze censer. Thick and heavy. It rests on 4 feet. The simply twisted handles seem to be part of the one and the same casting which would be a technical feat because I don't see any traces or rivets or welds. A frieze of stylized flowers surrounds the upper body. On the front part, the prestigious mark of Emperor Xuande cast in high relief is probably apocryphal. The exterior of the censer must have been regularly cleaned because the metal bears no patina except in the hollows of the patte...
