Splashes of Jackson Pollock in iron and ash festoon the flaring form of this sake-cup by Murakoshi Takuma enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Sake-nomi. The base is thick, allowing the cup to be quite stable, while the narrow foot leads to a wide, flaring rim, which makes it both easy to hold, and perhaps far too easy to drink from. It I 9 x 8 x 5.5 cm (roughly 3-1/2 inches diameter, 2-1/4 inches tall) and in perfect condition, directly from the artist.

A lovely Chinese translucent natural gray agate calligraphy brush with a bone ferrule and end cap. Brush is natural hair. The beads are slightly smaller than most, each measuring only .75" diameter (across) x 1" long. It is just beautiful. Brush measures 11.75 inches long.

Pair of small Ming dynasty Longquan celadon vases of compressed pear-form with flaring foliate form mouth decorated on opposing sides with low moulded relief leafy floral decoration. A pair of s-shaped handles are on each side of the neck. The celadon glaze with olive tint ends at the slightly flaring unglazed foot which has burnt orange from firing. The recessed base is glazed. Chinese Qing dynasty baluster vase with long neck and wide dish-form mouth decorated on the front in underglaze blue and white with two birds perched on a tree branch among flowers and rockery all set against a golden-tan colored geyao style crackle glaze background that extends into the interior mouth. Statue of a standing woman in formal dress, with an unusual necklace supporting a Christian cross. Wood, with fine glossy patina. India, 19th century. Height: 18.5 cm. The statue is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Abrasion due to age, otherwise good condition.

Chinese Neolithic Xindian Culture Painted Pottery Jar

This rare pottery jar was made around 3,000 years ago by peoples of the Neolithic Xindian culture (c. 1200 - 500 BC). The Xindian culture is a relatively late Neolithic culture and overlaps with the Chinese Bronze Age. Xindian pottery is rarer and generally less refined, more coarse and brittle than pottery from some earlier Chinese Neolithic cultures.

Chinese Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Cocoon Jar

This wonderfully-shaped pottery vessel, usually referred to as a "cocoon" jar was made over 2,000 years ago during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). The shape, named after its similarity to the silkworm cocoon, evolved during the late Warring States period (475 - 221 BC) and then generally died out by the middle of the Western Han Dynasty. Cocoon jars were used for the storage of grain.

Wonderful Ca. 1930 Kyoto-yaki ceramic bowl signed by Nishigawa in a signed original box. Inscripted on the box is the word Nishiki-ga meaning patterned after the obis woven in the Nishiki weaving area of Kyoto. 13cm tall x 28cm in diameter. Great condition.

A Hirado blue and white porcelain bowl. Dragon decoration on the interior center. Flowerhead in mokkogata reserves decoration along the interior below the rim with pale iron oxide wash. Intricate dragon and phoenix decoration around the exterior. The unglazed bottom and foot with the smooth biscuit characteristic of the kiln. Taisho period. Good condition. Diameter, 5 1/2 inches. Height, 2 1:8 inches.

A very nice pair of decorative pottery figures of Soldiers, China, dating to Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644 AD.

The soldiers are dressed in dark blue and turqouise glazed uniforms with harness and helmets. Each are carrying a weapon - an axe and a sword. They are placed on square plints. Helmets and boots in pigmented colors.

Height: c. 22-23 cm.

Condition: A superb pair of pottery figures with wear for age and type.

This pieces was made at Jingdezhen kiln famous for blue & white ware and exported to Japan where people loved blue & white ware called "Kosome" in Japan. It has auspicious patterns, beautiful blue color. And it has tiny roughness on the edge of mouth, however it is a character of works made at Jingdezhen kiln, Japanese people loved them because they didn't like perfectness.
