Lifetime edition Japanese shin hanga chuban sized woodblock print titled in kanji and English "Supper Wagon" by Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995) dated Showa 13 (1938). Pencil-signed at the lower right margin and with the artist's black ink signature and red seal in the image above. Paper: 7 3/4" x 10 1/2" (image: 6 5/8” x 9 3/8”). Very good overall condition with full margins.

A scholars favorite, this small pouch was used most likely for general purpose items, but I suspect it was actually used for cricket accessories, due the subject matter of a cricket at play, and the double gourd shape of the pouch. On the opposite side is an auspicious butterfly, the entire presentation is unique and charming. This scholars delight dates to the late 19th century. In excellent shape,it measures 4.75 inches or 12.1 cm long.

A lovely pair of Hoi An Shipwreck Annamese bowls dating to the 15th century. They are excellent condition, save for the glaze that is matte. They measure 4.5" wide and 3" high.

A Nezumi Shino covered box or jar. Probably a mukozuke (but for which we are not familiar with examples accompanied by a cover.) White slip inlaid into incised decoration under the warm, gray glaze - conspicuous on the cover but not so much in decoration on the sides of the box where contrast does not succeed as well. A wonderful Chinese wood elephant head architectural element. All sides are lacquered except for the back and top which are unfinished. This could be hung on the wall and used as a wall shelf to hold a small treasure. It is made of a heavy wood weighing 2 lbs and measuring 6" high, 4" widest, and 6" front to back. Date: mid 1800s.

Cinnabar is getting very hard to find, this lovely specimen even has a reticulated translucent very pale celadon carved stone, done in a floral pattern. In excellent condition despite a few dings, the cinnabar is completely intact. It measures 6" X 3.5" x 1.75 inches high. Dated to about Circa 1920, this vintage Chinese treasure is sure to increase in value over time. Note: Any white spec in the photos are reflections from the camera.

The design of butterflies and melons is seldom encountered on Chinese porcelain, found only on a few Qianlong pieces. This shaped dish I feel is from the early 19th century but the ‘orange peel’ surface of the porcelain is often found on Qianlong export pieces. Like the Qianlong painted melons these have a pronounced ‘spotting’ in either famille rose or gold enamel on the fruits.

DESCRIPTION: A simply carved agate rubbing stone in the form of a Chinese boy carrying a ruyi. The semi-precious stone is pure white with brown inclusions that have been incorporated into the design as the boy’s cloak, hat and ruyi, which he carries on his shoulder. A small hole has been drilled through the ruyi at the back of the head for stringing and wearing from the belt as a toggle. A heavy 19th Century lotus shaped porcelain deep bowl decorated on the outside with famille rose enamels depicting a dignatory and boys in a garden landscape. The base bears the six character seal mark ( painted in iron red) of the Tongzhi emperor (1862-1874). Condition: very good - there is wear to the turquoise glazed interior but no damages and no restoration. 14.5 cm diameter; 6 cm deep

A very lovely small Japanese teapot accented with decorative running splashes of gold against a dark brown almost black backdrop. The same color can be seen on the bottom 1/5 of the teapot just under the handle and continues to include the base bottom. The copper remaining exposed copper has a deep copper patina that comes only with age and usage. The handle features intricate basketry weaving. This was a treasured teapot and would make an excellent decorative specialist addition to your home....

A Japanese baluster vase painted with two scenes, separated by brocaded curtains. The neck in imitation of a cloth cover also featuring two Shimizu mon. The painting is quite remarkable; please remember when you look at the detail photographs that the vase is just a tad under six inches tall. Within the foot-rim is an extensive signature that begins…Satsuma, and is followed by two lines, one ending Sei (made) and the other Ga (drew) so this vase might prove to be the work of two artists.
