sold Peacock in cast bronze and partially gilded shakudo in 2 shades of gold. Japanese work in the style of Miyao around 1900. No signature. Hardwood and boxwood plinth.Good condition, no welding and original patina. Very slight wear, insignificant for a century-old object.
The body of the peacock is raven wing black which suggests that it is in shakudo which represented a significant additional cost, the shakudo alloy being obtained by adding gold to copper.
Total height about 16cm.
Rare 17/18c Red Raku Kyogen Tsutsu Chawan (cylinder bowl) with old golden repair.
No mark. The writing on old wooden box says 'Aka Raku Tsutsu Chawan Ichi' which can be attributed to Ichigen or Ichinyu. According to Raku museum, the pattern with white circles was popular at that time which refers to a design applied on Hakama trousers used for Kyogen, a form of traditional Japanese comic theater. Very similar chawan made by Ichigen I (1662-1722) can be seen in Raku mus...

$700.00 The immortal is powerfully carved in wood, probably cherry. Gama Sennin holds his stick in his hand and his toad on his shoulder. He is unusually tall. The sculpture is powerful, the folds of the dress are elegant and the expression is serene. Although Gama-Sennin is attested male there are rare examples of its female representation. The softness of the features make me think that this would be a woman. Although anonymous, it is the work of a good sculptor.
Big size 105mm.

sold The body is composed of two phoenixes, the heads of the birds naturally forming the handles. The stone is very hard, green speckled with translucent white. $700.00 Lost wax cast bronze pipe. Decoration in high relief of clouds or swirls of smoke and lotus petals. The object is massive, thick and heavy. We think it is a Khmer bronze, probably a cult object, but it may be something else altogether. What is certain is that the object is very old and that it is not a copy of the 20th century. The old patina confirms it as being several centuries old.
Personally I have never seen such an object
