GBP £195 Rare Khmer 12th/13th Century Glazed Stoneware Covered Jar
This rare and unusual jar was made around the late 12th to early 13th century. On first sight it appears cylindrical, but upon removing the cover it is clear that it is not, both body and cover being a little rectangular. There are various decorative ridges surrounding the base of the jar and the cover. Additionally, the cover is decorated in a design featuring a seven-pointed star pattern made from impressed lines and dots... well preserved, with a very good green and blue patina. Cambodia, 12th/13th century. H. 14 cm (the figure). Size including stand 22 cm.

Her head is adorned with a headdress and earrings, a necklace and around her waist is a knotted skirt with sash. Decorated with vines and foliage. Origin: Angkor Wat 12-13th Century. Size: Width 16 cm. ( 6.5" inches). Weight: 1.739 kg.

sold An interesting Cambodian cast bronze statuette representing the Hindu god Vishnu standing with his 4 arms. The bronze bears an excellent original patina which confirms the dating, 12th century Khmer art.Typical clothing and jewelry.
The Asian Art Museum houses a superb similar statue, a photo of which is attached.
A wooden plinth was made around 1900 to stabilize the statue.
Height without the wooden base: 115 mm (4.5 inches).
