Spectacular and extremely rare Giant size antique Buddha Figure dressed in royal robes, lacquer intricately inlaid with inset flat glass/mirror mosaics backed with colored foil and further decorated with moulded relief work forming beautiful spirals. The Buddha seated in "bhumisparshamudra" (subduing Mara), his left hand rests palm upward, on his lap, and the right hand rests on his right knee, calling the Earth to witness...

Exceptional AMARAPURA Crowned Buddha in Royal attire subduing Mara. Gilded wood with finely coloured glass-mirror inlays which points to the early Konbuang Period (1752-1885). Hand carved Baroque polychrome wooden cupid angel, typical chubby features of the period. Original black and red patina with gilding. Very fine bronze Shan State Buddha with an exquisite black-gold patina seated on a stepped throne decorated with knobs. The sculpture displays an elegant smartness and is well proportioned. The Buddha is seated in the Vajrasana position with the right hand in the gesture of touching the earth (bhumisparsa mudra) and the left hand rests in the gesture of meditation (dhyana mudra). Excellent condition, 18/19th Century. Size: H. 26 cm. x W. 13.5 cm. x D. 8 cm.
