Spectacular 19th Century miniature Buddha's Throne from Mandalay, Burma. Elaborately hand carved wood with finest gilding inlaid with countless cabochons and colored mirror pieces. This throne/altar also has 2 fine angels as well a pair of beautifully carved Royal Peacocks on top. Very good condition. Size: H. 34" x W. 16" x D. 11.5" (87 cm x 40 cm. x 29 cm.). Antique Vietnamese bowl with goldenrod celadon crackle glaze. The outer rim has two sets of incised parallel lines. The inside center has five textured points in a star formation with thick pooled black glaze. The bottom half of the bowl has textured vertical striations with rich glaze pooling around the foot. A rare Siam 18th. century Ayutthaya style gilt bronze Buddha sits with legs crossed, right hand in Abhaya Mudra, the energy of no fear gesture, left hand in the mudra of meditation.

Abhaya is translated from Sanskrit as fearlessness. The Abhaya mudra is made with the open palm of the right hand extending outwards at the chest level or slightly higher...

This lovely 19th century piece came from a Dutch private collection where it has been since the 1980's. It is 55 cm high and at the base it measures 25x25 cm. It has normal age wear and a wonderful old patina.
