A very good sized sculpture of Pedanda, a Brahman priest of the highest caste.
This is a traditional sculpture, not a piece for tourists. It's made of hard wood, very intricately carved and has a subtle polychrome.
H. 51 cm. Condition: expected age wear and a few age cracks. Please refer to the detailed pictures. A similar figure is in the collection of the 'Tropenmuseum' in Amsterdam.
Provenance: Belgian private collection.
Heavily cast in the naïve style that is so typical for Laos. H. 29,5 cm. Good age wear and patina. Remains of gilding. Old repairs to the feet.

The Ganesha is wearing a beautifully adorned garment around his waist. Naturally formed patina and some soil remnants are present. Excellent condition as well preserved in the earth cache. Kinnaya are half-bird and half-human celestial musicians. Buddhists believe that Buddha was incarnate as a kinnaya four times in his existence. 19th century- Has stand.

Small relief fragment in the shape of a head of Buddha, eyes closed, his slightly smiling face reflecting a profound inner serenity. Sandstone. Cambodia, Khmer Period, Bayon Style, 13th century. The piece is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Height (without stand): 12 cm. Erosion due to great age, trace of glue on the lower left side, otherwise very good condition.
