Antique Korean bowl from the Chosun Bunchung period, 16th century. The bowl has a spiral like pattern left in the clay showing the bowl was done on a wheel. It measures 5.5" wide 4" tall. This bowl came from the collection of George C. Heikes and Myung-ja Heikes. Their collection was assembled from 1963-1964 when Mr. Heikes was working as a mining engineer and geologist for the US Government in Seoul, Korea...

A rare, finely cast, pear shaped bronze vase coated with copper oxide ("malachite") encrustation. This item was made in Korea in the 12th or 13th Century during the Koryo dynasty (AD 936-1392). Condition: unusually, very good - there is a 2mm hole in the foot (possibly drilled at the time of making for a strengthening rivet)- please view enlargement 7 - and there are a number of shallow scarcely visible bumps, the largest with associated surface abrasion...

A refined Korean Buncheong celadon vase. Buncheong refers to the technique of incising a repeating pattern on the clay surface and white clay is filled in creating a strong contrast of greys and celadon colors with the white lines. An extraordinary, wooden figure of a tiger with a very long tail, sitting on a rockwork. It has an almost humanized facial expression and the mouth corners are showing small canines. It is painted with green and different brown pigments. Dating to the Joseon dynasty. Condition: partially lost or agglomerated coloring, some pigment fissures, few small cracks, one fang is worn. Gorgeous Korean screen with a light yellow silk background with cream designs of flowers and stems, with eight panels depicting a group of hunters on horseback, carrying spears, swords, and trumpets and hunting boar, wildcats, and pheasants. Large Korean wooden statue of the Amida Buddha or Amitābha, also known as "The Buddha of Infinite Light." He was covered in an oyster shell pigment in order to smooth out the woodgrain, a red lacquer was applied over it, and finally a gold leaf topcoat was applied. He is typically shown in a standing position and is oddly portrayed seated in this statue. 19th century Size: 36" height, 23.5" width, 19.5" depth

At the center of the robe is a rank badge holding a crane, indicating the gentleman is a civil official. The calligraphy states the bearded official is 41 years old.
